Dead in the Water, Part 3
I think this is our stop.

Slicer_TofG.jpgAfter getting the engine back on line Archaeon, Krahkhoar, M@-33, and Zerikus headed to a nearby damage control station to check the ship’s status. There they saw the station was occupied by a gang of thugs, who had gotten their hands on weapons. And in their midst was Vahn Jerriko, he was pleased to see the group and mentioned that he and his friends had found a way off the ship, a small freighter was being transported in the cargo hold. Vahn suggested that he’d take them along in trade for the ryll they were carrying. When Archaeon balked at the exploitation Jerriko’s thugs drew blasters. Before Jerriko could stop them a gunfight broke out in the confined space. The party escaped the damage control station and Zerikus tossed a grenade in to cover their retreat.

Just then a shudder lurched through the ship, and the PA system requested for any experienced pilots to report to the bridge. Hoping to help – Archaeon, Krahkhoar, M@, and Zerikus headed back to the bridge.

Jett Logan searched the unconscious form of Kip Salvo until he found a stimpack and jammed into the man’s thigh. Kip awoke with a gasp and the two examined the aftermath. The blast door had completely sealed off the observation deck from the freighter. Their escape chance gone, they commed the rest of the group and agreed to rendezvous at the Starry Night’s bridge.

As they reached the bridge they saw a planet now filled the viewscreen. The displays showed the Starry Night’s trajectory as near the point of no return for entering the planet’s atmosphere. None of the bridge crew could see any way to save the ship, and the ship’s computers were unable to run the evacuation protocol. Kip stepped up to the helm, and M@ began calculating possible vectors. Examining the data – and trusting his natural instincts – Kip angled the Starry Night to slingshot around the planet, and used the gravity pull of its twin moons to save the ship from entering the atmosphere. Snaking sharply between the planet and its moons the ship let out ominous groans. Anyone not strapped down was thrown to the ground and finally, as the Starry Night cleared the planet, a loud whine could be heard throughout the ship and it went into an aimless drift.

The bridge crew confirmed that two of the three engines were down, but everyone was amazed by the suicidal maneuver that had saved them all. One of the Imperial Commandos still stationed on the bridge thanked Kip, but let him know he would have to detain the smuggler. After returning to the Imperial escort, Lt. Dayton Janson had ordered that Kip be detained, and his acquaintances held for questioning. Kip insisted that it was a mistake and – in a spark of surprising sincerity – convinced the Commando it was all a mistake and that they should be free to go. The trooper agreed and the group quickly left the bridge.

After finding out about the freighter in the hold – the team made a beeline for the cargo bay. They reached it and found the doors blown open, inside they saw Jerriko’s thugs had beaten them in. Jett, Kip, Zerrikus, and Krahkhoar began sneaking up behind the thugs, while Archaeon rushed to the cargo bay control station. As they closed in, the party was noticed and a firefight ensued. The thugs began dropping but Jerriko kept up a fierce resistance. That is until Archaeon – using the bay’s cargo crane – dropped a cargo container on Vahn and his two remaining comrades.

Their victory secured, the team found their spice containers and started loading them onto the small YT-1760. However, before they even got the ship’s landing bay open the sound of blaster fire began echoing from the hold’s entrance. M@ went to scout the entrance, Jett started working on loading the ship, while Kip attempted to pull Vahn Jerriko out from the container that had pinned his legs and knocked him out.

Zerrikus noticed Imperial markings on the container Archaeon had dropped and decided to crack it open. Khrahkhoar climbed another stack of containers between the ship and the hold entrance. As Zerrikus opened the crate he found it loaded with military grade weapons, including grenades and a heavy E-Web blaster. Comming Archaeon, Zerrikus told him to prep the crane, and he began setting up the heavy repeater. M@ spotted a pack of Bloody Jesters being pursued by Stormtroopers, and they appeared to be heading into the heart of the hold. He ran back to what was quickly becoming an ambush point and climbed onto the container with Zerrikus. As the Jesters pushed deeper into the hold, Zerrikus signaled Archaeon, and the crane lifted the container Zerrikus and M@ were on high over the deck.

Zerrikus began laying a vicious base of fire into the approaching Jesters. As they looked for nearby cover they stopped right under Krahkhoar’s position. Krahkhoar leaped from his perch, with a wookie warcry, and both vibroblades drawn. He fell onto the Jesters and began slicing into them. A brutal three way fight broke out between the party, the Jesters and the Stormtroopers. The container now lifted, Kip was able to haul Jerriko back to the YT-1760, and he began helping Jett prep the mothballed freighter for flight.

M@ provided medical aid to Zerrikus as he took several hits from the pinned Jesters. Seeing threats everywhere one of the Stormtroopers fired a missile tube at the raised container. The missile hit home and the container came toppling to the deck, sending Zerrikus and M@ rolling to the ground. Noticing that each of the Jesters was carrying a large duffle bag, Krahkhoar dispatched one of the men, grabbed his bag and ducked into cover. Opening the bag – he saw it was filled with hard credits.

His controls now useless Archaeon began racing to the ship. Khrakhoar commed the rest of the group and let them know what the Jesters were carrying. Jett immediately dashed off the ship and headed towards the battle. Covering M@ as he attempted to revive Zerrikus Jett charged in. He and Krahkhoar drove back the Jesters and Stormtroopers, and recovered several of the bags. As Archaeon reached the freighter he was able to make the final changes to reconnect the engines. Kip powered up the engines as the stormtroopers focused their fire on Krahkhoar, M@, Jett, and Zerrikus. The YT-1760 lifted off and carefully set down on top of a nearby stack of containers. Carrying the bags, Zerrikus, and the E-Web – M@, Jett, and Krahkhoar rushed to the freighter’s loading ramp. They raced up it while blaster bolts splashed all around them. A missile impacted on the freighter’s side as Kip lifted the ship off.

They headed towards the cargo hold’s exterior loading bulkhead, but the team still had no idea how to open the doors and escape. M@ was able to revive Zerrikus, and Archaeon noticed an emergency release station at the base of one of the bulkheads. Knowing that anyone activating that wouldn’t make it back the team decided that someone would have to rig remote charges to blow the emergency release. It was still a dangerous task and no one agreed on who should make the run. Kip set down near the hatch and spun the landing ramp to face the emergency release. Before anyone could stop him, Zerrikus grabbed the charges and raced down the ramp. Just then the stormtroopers caught up with the freighter, and seeing a lone man in the open began spraying fire his way. Bolts took him in the leg and back and Zerrikus went rolling towards the emergency release. Barely able to move Zerrikus pulled himself behind the release console, as the troopers continued firing.

Jett attempted to run after Zerrikus, but was held back by Krahkhoar. Zerrikus commed for them to seal the ship, and before Kip could react a loud thump sounded. Kip smashed the hatch control button, as the freighter was pulled tumbling out to space by the sudden rush of vacuum.

An unexpected detour

As M@-33 patched up Kip Salvo and Krahkhoar, the rest of the team met up with Lt. Dayton Janson’s commandos at the top of the stairs. There they got a good look at their assailant. A man dressed in black battle armor, with a red laughing face painted on the chest.

As the stormtrooper squad advanced toward the bridge M@ scanned through his records and was able to identify the emblem. It marked the man as a member of The Bloody Jesters, one of the most violent and notorious mercenary groups in the Outer Rim. The group suddenly heard the sound of blaster fire, and the screams of men from down the hall.

As they caught up to the stormtrooper squad, the team saw another Bloody Jester decapitate a stormtrooper with a vibrosword. The other troopers fell back while trying to pour blaster fire into the mercenary, however the bolts seemed to skim off the man. Jett Logan joined in on the firefight but every shot he fired glanced off target. Finally Krahkhoar drew his vibroswords and rushed the man. The Jester met the wookie’s assault and the two dueled. While the two fought Archaeon scanned the man, when he noticed an unusual pack on the back of the man’s belt. He yelled to Krahkhoar to have him destroy the pack. The wookie redoubled his attack, and with a devastating slash he disarmed the Jester, and destroyed the pack at once. Jett and Kip were ready and blasted the now vulnerable man.

Finally clear, the team moved to the bridge. There they found the bridge crew tied up. After the crew was freed they returned to their stations and began checking their instruments. The engines were unresponsive, and the sensors showed the Starry Night was drifting towards an unknown planet. The captain estimated that the ship would enter the atmosphere in two hours. With no sign of the engineering team, Archaeon resolved to get the ship back on line. Getting internal security cameras back online, the team was able to determine the Bloody Jesters’ target. They were robbing the Galactic Trade Conglomerate Bank on board.

Seeing the number of threats presented Lt. Janson split his team, a small squad would guard the bridge, another would shuttle over to the imperial escort which appeared to be nearby, and the rest would go stop the Jesters before they could escape with the money. The team split up; Archaeon, Krahkhoar, M@, and Zerikus headed to the engine room. But, unconvinced the ship could be saved, Kip and Jett decided to discover how the Jesters’ got onboard and see if it provided an escape option.

On reaching the Engineering ready room Archaeon saw that the engine room had depressurized. He, Krahkhoar, and Zerikus grabbed spare spacesuits and all four ventured into the engine room. The cavernous room had been exposed to vacuum and above the cold, towering engine a massive gash in the hull revealed the stars beyond. Archaeon had a sinking suspicion he knew what happened to most of the engineering team. Archaeon set about repairing the engine, sending the team to different parts of the engine room to assist. When he was almost ready blaster fire rained down from high in the room. A previously hidden Bloody Jester – equipped with a thruster pack – had been waiting in ambush. A chaotic battle ensued while the team tried to deal with the zero g environment, and avoid enemy fire. Finally Zerikus got a lucky shot off and hit the Jesters’ thruster pack, the pack malfunctioned and sent the man spinning out into space. The threat dealt with Archaeon was able to get the engines back online.

Looking at the Starry Night’s damage control, Kip and Jett noticed that sectors of the ship they had been through were marked as depressurized. Looking at the depressurized areas they seemed to make a rough path from the bank to one of the observation decks. Guessing this was a ploy to keep people away, the duo rushed to the observation deck.

As they neared their goal – they started being more cautious as Jett peered around the final bend before the deck he spotted two Jesters guarding the door. Kip decided to throw a nearby cargo crate down the hall, and then he and Jett ducked into a nearby maintenance closet. They soon heard two pairs of boots walking past their hiding place, and once the noise had died down they started heading towards the now unguarded observation area.

When they had reached the hatch to the deck, they heard a curse behind them, and saw the two returning guards level blasters at them. Ducking inside, Jett and Kip saw the glass dome of the observation area was penetrated by a boarding tube – and a freighter was floating just outside. They began running for the tube while firing wildly at the Jesters. One of the Jesters’ shots hit home, and sent Kip tumbling to the ground. Throwing himself over his unconscious friend, Jett yanked a grenade from Kip’s belt and tossed it towards the glass dome. With just a moment to spare Jett looped one arm around Kip, and the other around a nearby bench bolted to the floor. The grenade let out a deafening boom that was quickly replaced with a rush of air as it shattered the glass of the dome.

The atmosphere rushed out of the room, and the two surprised Jesters were yanked out along with it. Jett clung to the bench as he was yanked towards the vacuum of space. Just as his hand slipped the emergency bulkhead over the observation deck engaged and began sliding into place. Jett and Kip were sucked towards the bulkhead, and smacked hard against it just as it sealed shut.

A voyage to be remembered.

UnauthorizedAccess-AoD.jpgArchaeon, Jett Logan, Kip Salvo, and M@-33 awoke to dim red emergency lights and the distant blare of klaxons. The cantina was chaos as wounded patrons moaned and cried for help, and others tried to pry open the sealed blast doors that had slammed closed. M@ began tending the wounded while the others looked for an escape option. Archaeon accessed a terminal behind the bar and found ship-wide communications were down. As more people roused themselves a panic began to build until another man in the bar -Zerikus – stepped up and in a commanding voice let everyone know they’d be fine if they just worked together.

Archaeon accessed ship schematics and found an air vent running out of the cantina. Zerikus had his wookie friend Krahkhoar tear off the vent’s grating and M@ crawled through. After slicing open the vent’s emergency bulkhead M@ reached the hallway outside the cantina, which was also bathed in emergency lights. M@ overrode the ship’s emergency protocols and opened the cantina doors.

Zerikus and Krahkhoar decided to stay with the group until they could determine what was happening. The group split with Jett and Zerikus heading towards the armory and the rest heading to a nearby damage control station.

On reaching the armory Jett and Zerikus found evidence of a recent firefight, and Jett decided to cautiously approach the armory door. As the door opened he was confronted by a squad of stormtroopers who stunned him before he could react. Zerikus immediately ran and commed the party to let them know what happened.

Once Archaeon reached damage control, he found it deserted. The readouts showed depressurizations all across the ship, and one readout had a message “All unassigned crew report to Bridge.” The group then received Zerikus’ panicked message, and raced towards the armory.

Kip cautiously went forward and when confronted by the stormtroopers immediately surrendered and requested to speak to their CO. The man was Lt. Dayton Janson, he explained his squad had been onboard as part of the Imperial security detail when something ripped the Starry Night from hyperspace. They had come to the armory to gear up before making a run for the bridge. When the troopers reached the armory they found passengers raiding it and a firefight ensued. The lieutenant also believed the passengers who escaped were not the only armed force on board.

Janson used Imperial law to temporarily conscript the group and told them to arm themselves. After reviving Jett and grabbing gear from the armory Janson had them take point far ahead of his troopers and spot for ambushes.

While heading for the bridge they encountered a ragged security team that had been hit hard by unseen attackers, Janson had any that were able fall in with his troops.

The scouting party finally reached the grand lobby, which was strewn with decorations for the evening’s Gala. As the team cautiously advanced a heavy repeating blaster on the other side of the room opened fire. The party commed for help as they took cover and quickly found themselves pinned down. M@, Archaeon, and Krahkhoar rushed for a nearby elevator to use as cover, while Kip tried to make it to the grand staircase. Zerikus and Jett began laying down suppressing fire, and leapfrogging forward. The group of security guards came through one of the side passages into the lobby and the gunner tore into them with his repeater. Kip tried to take the opportunity to move up, but the gunner swung his turret in Kip’s direction and the deck exploded around him. Seeing Kip crumple – Zerikus raced forward, leaping over tables and ignoring the scorching bolts flying past. He reached Kip and dragged him back to safety.

Finally Jett leapt from a balcony and landed on one of the elevators, and then blasted the controls. The elevator shot up, allowing him to draw a bead on the gunner. Archaeon managed to hotwire another elevator and he, M@, and Krahkhoar piled in as it rose up. The gunner started spraying the elevators as he recognized the threat. Krahkhoar and Jett returned fire with their heavy blaster rifles, but finally the gunner hit the repulsorlifts on Jett’s elevator, sending it crashing back to the floor. Jett rolled off and went sprawling to the floor, Krahkhoar also took a shot to the arm, and as he fell back into the elevator Archaeon closed the doors.

The gunner continued to spray the elevator, and after making sure Kip was stable, Zerikus primed two grenades and stormed the staircase. As the gun swung in his direction he hurled the grenades, and then slid under a table. The grenades flew true, and with a boom the gun collapsed and the gunner flew back. At the same time the stormtroopers appeared from the gunner’s flank and poured fire into the armored man until he went down.

Hitching a Ride
Product to ship, but no ship for the product.

spaceport.jpgAfter watching their only chance off Ryloth fly over the horizon M@-33, Kip Salvo, and Jett Logan returned to Nyn Kablo. Nyn was sympathetic, but she warned that if they were unable to ship ryll she would have to renege on their deal.

The crew set to work, using their contacts across the galaxy. Finally M@ reached an agreement with a doctor on Alderaan named Sate Met. Now with a buyer they just needed transportation. M@ then contacted an old acquaintance – Archaeon – who was working as a mechanic on the GTS Starry Night. The Starry Night was stopping at Ryloth in a few days, and Archaeon would be able to book them passage.

When the Starry Night’s shuttle finally touched down in Nabat, Kip bribed the cargo master to allow their semi-legal cargo on board without inspection. The crew put Ryloth behind them and docked on the impressively large liner, the Starry Night. They were greeted by customs and were forced to surrender their weapons. However, Jett bypassed security using a restricted maintenance tunnel. The tunnel let out into a security break room. Thinking quickly Jett posed as a new contracted security guard, and acquired a security uniform.

The group reunited in their room, and clued Archaeon into their Ryll business. The Starry Night was headed corewards and all the team had to do was relax for a few weeks. They spent several days exploring the ship, shopping and enjoying the varied amenities. On the afternoon before The Captain’s Gala was to take place, all four returned to their room to find a message had been delivered.

“I was hoping to further discuss our promising new business venture. Please meet me in the Nebula’s Dream Cantina at 1600 hours. Sincerely, Your Dear Friend, VJ” Since Jett was still armed and armored the crew decided to investigate the letter. They reached the Nebula’s Dream and a man caught their attention. The man introduced himself as Vahn Jerriko, he informed the crew he was a independent businessman interested in acquiring their ryll and any future ryll they wished to sell him. Before he could explain where his information came from a violent shudder ran through the ship, and with an alarming shriek everyone in the cantina was thrown from their seats and blacked out.

Snatched and Stranded
Hutts aren't the only ones who hold grudges.

bothan.JPGBack in NabatSash, 41-VEX, and Lowhhrick were still overseeing The Krayt Fang’s overhaul. They had observed several bounty hunters landing on planet, but managed to avoid any unwanted attention. The second afternoon Sash noticed a conspicous Bothan watching their hangar. Sash and VEX used the rooftops of the spaceport to tail the Bothan, however this lead them right into an ambush. Several men were posted on the roofs nearby with stun rifles, and they quickly overwhelmed the pair.

Sash and VEX regained consciousness tied to chairs, back to back, in a nondescript warehouse. After a moment the Bothan they had attempted to follow entered the room. He explained that he was looking for one of their companions. When Sash and VEX proved unhelpful he began to torture Sash, using a scalpel to cut open his cheek. He then left the two to think things over before he continued. Using VEX’s installed instruments Sash managed to loosen his bonds and then untied VEX. However, two of the bothan’s goons entered the room, Sash and VEX pretended to still be bound until the men drew close. They then jumped the men – using the nearby torture tools as improvised weapons.

After taking the men’s blasters they went to find the Bothan. When he saw Sash and VEX free, the bothan fled. The pair chased him through the streets of Nabat. Finally they caught up to the bothan, he turned as they approached and gave them an impish grin. He then stepped aside to reveal a group of Teemo’s bounty hunters.

The next morning Jett Logan, Kip Salvo, and M@-33 returned to Nabat. After letting Nyn Kablo know of their success, she offered them 35% of whatever profits they earned from distributing ryll, and gave them 10 cases to start with. They gave Nyn the Krayt Fang’s hangar number, and left. Then a panicked message crackled over their comms " Lowhhrick! Bounty hunters! Get the engines running!"

Jett, Kip, and M@ rushed to the spaceport, and arrived just in time to see the half rust, half green colored Krayt Fang blast out of the port. A stream of thugs rushed out of the hangar and ran towards another bay, the trio followed and attacked the bounty hunters as they tried to load onto their freighter. An intense firefight broke out in the hangar, and Jett stormed up the freighter’s ramp as it took off. One of the bounty hunters pulled a vibrosword and Jett brawled with the man as the ship rose. Finally when Jett disarmed the hunter, he was tackled off the ramp and only survived by landing on top of the man.

Meen Business
Nothing personal.

ryloth_crop.jpgOn flying up to New Meen Jett Logan, Kip Salvo, and M@-33 noticed that the tiny settlement was backed up against a sharp cliff, and ringed by a series of rough dug ditches. The town itself barely deserved the word, and was more a collection of shanties and tents than anything else. After touching down and checking in with the village leaders, B’Ura B’an told the group more about New Meen’s situation.

It appeared a nearby settlement of humans had been harassing miners, “accidentally” destroying equipment, and had dug the trenches blocking the mining vehicles. They were led by a contractor named Angu Drombb, who seemed set on driving the Twi’leks from their mine. The trio decided to go pay Drombb a visit.

On pulling up to Drombb’s pre-fab settlement, the group was greeted roughly and quickly tried to convince Drombb they wanted to join him. After telling Drombb they could give him the mine today Drombb sent them back to New Meen with two landspeeders of his men. On the way back Kip engineered a landspeeder crash that wrecked all three speeders. Before the thugs could react Kip and Jett blasted the survivors, while M@ subdued one for questioning.

After interrogating the survivor, they discovered Drombb actually had ties to the criminal community, and a weakness for Twi’lek women. With that information they developed a plan.
Returning on foot to New Meen, they grabbed their remaining speeder, and found a volunteer brave enough to accompany them. A young twi’lek woman – Leilani Tochiki – accompanied them back to Drombb. Jett, and M@ hid in the speeder while Kip and Leilani went inside to meet with Drombb.

Kip told Drombb a story of disaster, he said the Twi’leks had been waiting for them, and that he was the only one who could make it back. He had managed to capture this young Twi’lek when he stole a landspeeder and brought her back with him. Drombb was furious but didn’t suspect anything, and he sent Kip away while he talked to Leilani.

Jett and M@ snuck out of the landspeeder when it was pulled along side the cantina, and ambushed Drombb’s remaining thugs. Kip took out the man inside, and all three busted into Drombb’s quarters and gunned him down before he could harm Leilani.

On Drombb’s terminal they found evidence he was employed by Teemo the Hutt though the evidence was destroyed with the rest of the office when Jett set off a booby trap explosive in Drombb’s safe. All four returned to New Meen and let B’ura B’an know that the threat had been dealt with.

Friends, Old and New
Surprises all around.

The Krayt Fang emerged from hyperspace and was quickly in a state of chaos. Low on fuel and unfamiliar with the vessel, the crew set about exploring their new ship.

41-VEX discovered that the Krayt Fang had holding cells, and found three prisoners inside: M@-33, Kip Salvo, and B’Ura B’an. After seeing how well armed Jett Logan was, the prisoners made it clear they would be no trouble. Once the prisoners were released, the crew calculated what systems they could reach for refueling. Ryloth seemed the most promising, and since it was B’ura B’an’s homeworld he promised compensation if he was returned there.

Just before they made the jump to Ryloth, M@-33 detected a tracking device on the ship. They were able to interfere with the device’s programming before moving on. The Krayt Fang jumped into Ryloth orbit without incident, and they touched down in Nabat.

After setting the local crew to refueling and repainting their ship, B’ura B’an asked the group to come meet a friend who might have a promising business proposition. M@-33, Kip, and Jett, accompanied B’ura, while the rest stayed to guard the ship.

B’ura led them to a safehouse, and introduced them to Nyn Kablo the leader of a pro-Twi’lek militant group. Her group was trying to establish a Ryll mine run exclusively by free Twi’leks. Things were running smoothly until a group of humans started harrasing the miners. If the group agreed to deal with the humans and get the mine running, she would allow the group to lead the ryll distribution efforts.

The trio agreed and the next morning they set out with B’ura B’an to visit the mine in New Meen. They were lent a landspeeder, and the trip was going well until a couple hours in when a sudden explosion sent the speeder into a violent nose dive. The crew regained their feet only to realize armed men were training weapons on them. And one in particular stood out, Trex. They immediately went into cover as the armed force opened fire. However the bounty hunters underestimated the group and were pushed back into a nearby cave. The two groups continued to play cat and mouse, until two remaining bounty hunters took up ambush positions in the cave. Once the shooting started the bounty hunters disturbed a massive Lylek, and were torn apart.

The crew found the bounty hunter’s speeder, and repaired their own, then drove both to New Meen.

Escape from Mos Shuuta
A desperate gamble.

In a desperate bid to escape their former master three unlikely friends – Lowhhrick, 41-VEX, and Sash – devise a plan to steal a freighter and leave Tatooine behind them.

Stuck in Teemo the Hutt‘s personal fortress city Mos Shuuta the only chance of escape seems to be hijacking the freighter The Krayt Fang. To do that the trio would have to repair it’s hyderdrive, clear it’s departure, and deal with the freighter’s captain, Trex.

After avoiding Teemo’s goons, obtaining the parts they needed, releasing the Krayt Fang’s docking clamps and escaping Imperial stormtroopers; the group made it to the freighter’s hangar. Once inside they ran into something they didn’t expect, Trex’s unwilling underling Jett Logan. They managed to convince Jett to betray Trex and escape with them.

After the resulting fight Trex wound up face down with a blaster bolt in the back, and the party took off in the Krayt Fang, narrowly avoiding Imperial TIE fighters and escaping into Hyperspace.
